Culinary Arts- (General Course) Culinary Arts is a two-year program in the Hospitality and Tourism Career Cluster that teaches the basics of culinary arts and restaurant management.  The Culinary Arts pathway program includes classroom and hands-on experiences that will prepare students for employment or continuing education in the foodservice industry.  This program was written to incorporate the National Restaurant Association (NRA) ProStart learning objectives and ServSafe, the restaurant industry’s leading association and premier provider of food safety education.  First year students will study the ServSafe Food Handler information.  Second year students will complete the ServSafe Manager training.  Any student who successfully completes this program will take the ServSafe Manager national certification exam.  Students are encouraged to work during high school in internship positions with foodservice professionals as mentors.  Students will receive elective credits

 

State Prerequisites:

  • C or higher in English (the previous year)

  • C or higher in Math (last course taken or the instructor can specify the math)

  • CTE Instructor and Administrative approval
