Health Science – (College Prep Course) This technical level course is designed to give students who are interested in pursuing a career in a health field a strong foundation in human anatomy and physiology, basic nursing assisting skills, and legal issues in health care.  Clinical experience is provided stressing patient care, laboratory services, radiology services, therapy services, and surgical services in various health care facilities.  Students must earn 100 clinical hours to be a program completer. After completing Health Science I & II, students will receive two science credits and two elective credits. Health Science II students will also take the National Health Science Assessment which is a national certification test. Health Science I may be accepted in lieu of Contemporary Health. Students must have an 80 or above average in Biology with Chemistry recommended. This program is a pathway for students in the Health Sciences Career Cluster.

 

 

State Prerequisites:

  • C or higher in English (the previous year)

  • C or higher in Math (last course taken or the instructor can specify the math)

  • CTE Instructor and Administrative approval
